Subject: Superchips charging for updates? IP: Logged
Message: I just bought a unit from a private party and it wound up
needing an update. So I contacted the private party to call
Superchips since he was the original buyer of the unit, they said
they wanted $200 to update it! What a crock, has anyone else
had this problem? The private party is very nice and refunding
the cost of it to me and now we have a very expensive paper
weight to show for it.
I'm even debating not buying a new one myself if it's just going
to cost me to get it updated. Ugh

Message: Scotty, it didn't cost anything to update it. I had to send it back to the person who originally bought it though. He then sent it back to StupidChips for a retune. They will ONLY deal with people that purchased it originally AND have the receipt to prove it. What a PITA.
I may be selling my Superchips though.... along with the truck the way gas prices are going. I'm looking hard at those Toyotas. We just bought a Prius the other day. We've never owned rice before, but I'm very impressed with the car and it's consumer reports ratings.....
Let me know on that truck!

Message: Aloha everyone!
I finally got the chip yesterday and i'm really impressed with the performance. my rev went up higher and the tourque was a noticeable difference. Got it for $250.00 which was 6 months old so i figure its a good deal.
The only problem is just the update on the chip. The service guys said that there won't be an update till next year which will work with the fuel injectors. I hope my incident will help other V sixers out there. Thanks to everyone that helped i really appreciate it.
Mahalo,
Scotty
