Subject: Didn't know crossmembers on the 4x4. IP: Logged
Message: Larry, Since your have a shop and see the underside of the Dodges alot more tha I do. I was under my 92 4x4, real tranny seal leaking or front seal on the transfer case. I was about to tacle this till I noticed that the cross member is welded to the frame. How do you deal with in your shop.

Message: If you tranny seal is leaking all you have to do is pull out your drive shaft and pull out the seal. You should have to worry about dropping your crossmember.

Message: Not so on a 4x4, the output shaft of the tranny connect to the input shaft of the transfer case. The cross member that supports the transfer case and trasmission is welded to the frame. In the past when I never really paid attention to it.
