Is it safe to keep everything stock when installing the harlandsharp 1.7 roller rockers? Will there be any piston to valve contact even if the chain were to break? What kind of torque numbers do you gain from this mod? Is there anything else I need to know? I know about 15 horsepower. Thanks Larry in advance.

ive heard that you have to pound the baffles down a little inside the valve covers. if you dont, the rockers might just do it themselves and maybe cause some damage. just get a 2x4 piece of wood, and pound em down about 1/4 inch or so. Steve

According to tazzy they fit right under the covers
the harland sharps are bolt in
You would have to raise the lift a lot more than
.030 to have any piston clearance probs
With the crowers the stud adjusting nuts will hit
and than it need to be moded.
And yes just bolt in and use all your stock parts
I just got the crowers back in my stock motor they
help a lot.
crower lost my faxed order so I got pissed and on
sunday woke my friend up that owns a machine shop
and fixed the dam things myself.
Just pushed the pins out and made some .028 thick
grade 8 washers and poped the pin back in and did
a star pean with a center puch there lock was
imposible to reinstall.
250 miles and running strong but this motor does
have 1 lifter that acts up, going to give it a
little time to straighten out or I am going in
after it.
only ticks a little on cold start and once in a
while at idle but other wise fine must have a
piece of dirt in it.

Hey Lary, I have the same problem with one of my lifters. I got about 500 miles of quiet driving after installing my 1.7 Crower rockers and then a lifter started knocking. I readjusted my left side and after 300 miles I get a knock in cold weather. I was thinking of just replacing the lifters. I have 153k on the motor. Do you think it maybe that we just have a weak lifter or do you think maybe dirty lifter?

Yes replace the lifters at that mileage they start
to act up a little on all trucks around 100,000
A new set is cheap, $114 for set of 16 about $130
if you buy 12 seporatly
intake gaskit set $30
try some marvel mystery oil or CD-2 made by same
co tuttle wax on a lot of trucks it helps 1 pint
and run it a few hundred miles
