Subject: Clearance? IP: Logged
Message: Will I have any clearance problems with the 1.7 Roller Rockers? I am worried about the valve to piston clearance if the timing chain were to ever go or in any circumstance. Will there always be clearance? I am going to order the HarlandSharp 1.7 Roller Rockers. I am going to use all the stock valvetrain. Will there be enough pushrod clearance? Anything else I need to know?
Thanks in advance.

Message: Nope, you shouldn't have any problems. Just put them in and
enjoy your extra power.
I'm still waiting for my set in the mail. I spoke with John
Mercedes, the guy who makes these, and he explained them to
me. You don't need any of the extra parts like with other
rockers, just bolt these down and go. I can't wait for mine to get
here.

Message: The V6 is non-interference in stock form and the 1.7rr only increase the valve lift by about .020 or .030. You'll be fine. I've even seen quite a few interference engines break chains and not bend valves.
