Subject: tranny oil IP: Logged
Message: after reading mixed posts about flushing or draining the tranny oil i decided to get mine flushed at the local mobil 1 quick change but after observing what they actually do,i am kinda worried #1 they dont change filters and told me dealers dont really recomend changing them
#2 do they even put any clean oil in or do they just like dialasios ya old oil
#3 i thought they just put in a universal additive
to dextron or mercon to make it up to atf specs
the additive was called ss in black bottle
oh yeah i have 01 v6 with 26 thousand on it,thing is i dont know if this additive is up to atf 4
any good advice is much apreciated

Message: The additive they put in was most likely "Lubeguard black" which is supposedly able to fortify the dexron fluid to meet the +4 specs of the new dodges. I ran this stuff in my Kota for about 5000 miles, never had a problem, but got smart and switched her to Amsoil. you should be safe tho....best of luck to ya

Message: They didn't change the filter? What's the point in that? The
whole idea is the filter catches anything that shouldn't be in the
system. Plenty of companies make replacement filters and the
tranny comes from the factory with a filter installed. I don't trust
quickie oil change places for just that thinking. And the fact
that they strip drain plugs when the do engine oil changes.
