Subject: o2 sensor bad w/o code? IP: Logged
Message: hi all,
'99 3.9 cc, 58k miles.
recently replaced bad cat, i have ping under load, put in ap3923's, still pingy, opened gap to .045, now only occasionally pingy.
my question is this, could my pre-cat o2 sensor be bad without sending an error code?
should i go ahead and change it anyway?
if so, anyone know where to get one for less than the bosch 15705 at kragen for $92.99 ?
thanks,
jeff

Message: Yes it could be
sensors will get lazy and not read through the
full sclae they should but still not trip a
mil light.
recomended replaced at 60,000
upstream pre cat o2 controls the air fuel ratio

In the Atlanta market, the Bosch 15707 O2 sensor sells at retail for
$62.xx at AutoZone, and for $65 at Advance Auto. These prices
are in Gwinnett County and DeKalb county where an additional 7%
sales tax is imposed.

Message: Jeff, Years ago Ibought a box/open wrench, cut off the open end and cut a notch through the box big enough for wires to pass. Cut the handle only if you need to for access. This tool has never failed me (along w/ 4lb. sledge). In dire emrg. heat pipe w/ torch, carefully!
