Subject: Heavy Duty Radiator Problems IP: Logged
Message: Greetings! I love this place. And I appreciate the help! I put a heavy duty radiator (two rows of tubes) in my '96 3.9L 4x4 last summer along with a transmission oil cooler. It worked great for towing stuff last summer! But it was a LOOOONG winter without much heat in the cab and my fuel mileage is wrecked - around 15mpg. I sure could use some suggestions. Thank you!!!!

Message: try a trick that my granddaddy used to use, a sheet of cardboard blocking off 50% or more of the cold air getting to the radiator, thus allowwing only 50% (or more) of the radiator to NOT cool off the engine. just shuv the cardboard in between the radiator and grill, then at least for a while keep an eye on the temp gage to make sure you did not over do it and end up overheating.
