Subject: Could i get your opinion Larry? IP: Logged
Message: I'll try to be as specific as possible. In colder temperatures, say below 35 degrees out, there is a whistle from the engine compartment This whistle varies in loudness (sometimes quiet sometimes very loud, and frequency of it increases with speed. (at first i thought it was in wheel because of this, but after having someone else drive while i rode in passenger seat, im pretty sure it is in engine compartment now, although i cant quite tell where.) After a couple miles and engine warms up it goes away. I know there was a post about this somewhere else, but i think the noise in mine is different. Whistle is only reproduced while moving (at any speed), occurs whether in gear or with clutch depressed, it wont do it while stopped revving in neutral. i thought it might be a vacuum leak somewhere, but why would it go away when engine warms up? Any help is appreciated.
Thanks.
BTW its a 00 3.9 4X4 manual tranny
