Well, as an occasional poster here I must say that I bought an '04 Silverado Z-71 and traded in the Dak.

Ball Joints, 2nd set of brake rotors, transmission with a mind of its own, etc - all with less than 48k miles.

I will not mention that my gas mileage is the same ???? 5.3/300hp/4wd .vs. 02 SXT 3.9 2wd.

By the way, do not try to race one of these things.

Good luck to all.. this is a good board.

Have fun with your piston slap! And I wouldnt bother mentioning the Dakota's transmission, GM isn't exactly known for the quality of theirs.

that hydromatic in toledo has a transmission assembly line dedicated to building new warrantee replacement transmissions for GMC/Chevy trucks and it runs 24/7 and can barely keep up? This is not the same line they use for new truck trannies but a completely separat line.

Actually if yall want to get right down to it... The Dodges and chevies have almost identical trannies in them... I think the shells are all that is really that different...

Chevy's just down right suck though... Engines and all... Wouldn't even consider one if I were going to buy a new one...
