I have a 92 3.9L Dakota. The tachometer no
longer appears to be functioning. Its an
automatic so it not like this is a very pressing
issue, but little things like this annoy me.
Does any one know a way i can tackle this
problem myself? or am i going to be forced to
see a mechanic or- more likly than not- am i
just going to have to live with it?

My tach and spedometer stopped working this winter. It was the
board behind the guages that was messed up. I had an extra set
of guages and a board from my old truck, so I was able to fix it
without any trouble or expense.

If its just your tach, then I've got an extra one I'd ship to you for
cheap. Its real easy to install, just pop it in there. If its your
board, then you'll probably have to order it from a dealer, but its
still easy to install, so no labor then, heh.

Thanks for the offer. First i think i will disassemble the dash to check if there is voltage being sent to the tach in the first place. Also it would be a good move to make sure its not just a loose wire or something. If any one has any advice or info on this matter it would be much appreciated.

Thats a good place to start. If just one of your guages is not
working, then chances are its just the tach. If two or more are
acting up, then it might be the board. If you do find that you
need a part or anything, you know where to find me. Good luck.
