Message: I just did my 8th oil change on my 02 dakota. I've noticed that everytime i change my oil filter that there is oil residue all over it, and kind of wet. I've been using the fram ph16 but have noticed that it does not completely cover the indentation for the filter on the block. I never bothered to notice when i took the factory off if the factory completely covered this indentation either. Could this be causing a little leakage on the fram filter and does anyone know of a filter that will completely cover this indentation? thanks

Message: i dont think the indent matters, as long as the gasket seal is tight on the block and its on there pretty good, there shouldnt be much leakage. however, i hope that when you have been changing the filter, you put some old oil on the new filters gasket. it makes it seal up nicely and might fix your problem if you havent been doing this already. Message: Stop using that orange junk, Fram is way over rated.
Try the Purolator Pure One #PL14670, it's much better, and only a couple $'s more.
Make sure the filter is tight, 1/2-3/4 of a turn after the filter seats.
