Subject: stalling on my 87 dakota 3.9 4x4 IP: Logged
Message: Alright i dont know that much bout the thing i just got it a couple of months ago plus its my first truck being a new driver on the road. But back to my problem The owner that had it before me told me for some reason after or when u get to half a tank it stalls then said that all you gotta do to get it to start is take the air filter cover off and it will start back up but wont if u try and start it after it stalls without takin the filter cover off. So for the past 2 months ive been keeping it above that. So my dad took it to his work today and on the highway it lost power and stalled out. He then tried to start it and it wouldnt then took the filter cover off let it air out for a sec. and then put it back on and then it fired right back up. I dont want anyone yell at me wat i think it might be but would it be the O2 sensor liek its not reading enough for some reason. I WOULD REALLY LIKE IF SOMEONE COULD HELP WITH THIS THIS i dont want it be that i have to worry bout it stalling Thanks
Thomas

Message: pump, there should be 5-7lbs pressure
heres a few things to check
try removing the air filter next time and see if it still stalls out and/or remove the air breather
completely[for a short period of time, day or so]
check the vaccuum door in the air breather snookle
to see if its opening,
check to see if the air breather is pinching any of the lines
fuel filter[in line]should be between the fuel pump[below altanator] and the carb.
sock or strainer in the fuel tank
