Message: I have a question. I put a flowmaster 40 on my 94 3.9 and it has 2.25 split pipes after the muffler. It doesnt sound as I had expected. THe 4.3's have a better rapp to them when you stomp on the gas and also at higher RPM's the 4.3 sounds better. Is there any way to get that sound. How about the guys who have added a cam, does that help with the exhuast tone. just curious thanks for the help

Sorry to say it but you should've read more posts on this board regarding duals and flowmasters. The are made for V8s not our 6's. I also don't want to bust your bubble but you will never get them to sound like the 4.3s, atleast IMO. As its been said, time and time again, the best way to go with our trucks are single exiting exhausts.

Message: Before I had to rework my exhaust I had a pretty good sound...I had the cat removed and in place had two straight through glass packs...then Y piped into 2.25 pipes to 30" boom tube 3.5 in tips...it had a low rumble and didn't sound bad when I stomped on it. Now that I have a cat back on with one non directional glasspack i get a whistle at high rpms...oh well gonna trade it this summer for a newer one

Message: jeez ass face, get a life, if having a V8 makes me as big a prick as you, i'll stick with my v6 :D. Anyways, my truck sounds pretty nice, but I have no clue who makes my exhaust I bought it like it is. But im looking at getting the flowmaster 50 or 40 series.

Message: I just got a Flowmaster 40 series Delta Flow. It sounds good at an idel, haven't really been outside when it is being driven cause I usually am driving. Might want to look at a carsounds cat. I liked the sound of Another_Mark's dakota, but wanted duals not a single pipe. His sounds great for a v6. I think he has JBA headers, Carsounds cat and Flowmaster 40 series, i could be wrong.
I think that the flowmaster that I have losses the rumble at higher RMP's but I am looking at a 48mm Throttle body, so hopefully more air will help, not sure, but just wanting more power overall.

Message: Thanks Matt. My sound clip is at www.mark-world.com/dakota. I can't tell you what model of Flowmaster muffler I have though. I think it was either a 40 or 50. I put it on years ago and never wrote it down. I do have JBA headers and a Carsound cat. It's a 2 1/2 single pipe out of the muffler. I also have an FIPK and the 48mm throttle body, I don't see how that would help the exhaust sound though. It sounds nice at start up and idle, gets too bassy sounding for me under acceleration and is kinda loud on the freeway. I'm going to try out some different combos and see what I can get out of it. The Flowmaster does lose its rumble after you get on it and are cruising along. You can't recreate the V-8 sound when you're missing two cylinders. I wish we could. I like the kit MBRP.com sells which I'm sure wasn't intended for 6ers to use so we'll see what it sounds like.
