So what is the story on switching to Bosch/Ford injectors for the 3.9? Has anyone done this and is it an improvement or is it just new injectors?

Well, it supposedly smooths out your idle and reduces stumble... I'm not really sure, I'm still waiting for Bruce at Fiveomotorsport to get me mine that I purchased on the 3rd! (ten days? Time to email him again...)

Ask Lesley, she's got 'em. :0)

FMS #19s... can't wait to install them...

But right now I've got to track down this 'Check Engine' light that just came on. I think I pulled a connection loose when I 'polished' my IAT relocation setup (cleaned it up some), so I have to pull that all apart. Probally going to pull the TB when I do the injectors and dremel it a bit...

I have installed the fuel 19# injectors, they smoothed out the idle and the acceleration seems to be more consistent throughout the full range of pedal travel. No noticeable increase in power sorry to report. I still consider it worth the money I spent at FiveO Motorsports. Heck of a deal. Hope the info helps.

I got the same injectors a couple of months ago from 5.0 Motor Sports I seen a big improvement, got rid of a miss that it had too. It was definitely worth $89.00 Thats the price of one stock injector.

I agree, it deffinately smoothed mine out also. No great increase in power but for the money it's better than getting them cleaned. Just wondering, has anyone ever checked their fuel pressure on these trucks. Mine is right at 40 psi. The book calls out for 44 to 54 psi along with checking to see if it holds pressure after shutdown. Just wondering if anyone has checked this. Thanks, Greg

does anyone know if it is easy to switch a v6 with a v8 in a 98 dakota. my motor threw 4 of the 6 rods out the oil pan after my dealership just put in a bad oil pump about a month ago and now they dont want to warranty the pump. (by the way the pump comes with a 12 month/12thousand mile warranty)

Contact the Better Business Bureau and file a complaint against the dealership...a lot of people on here said that will usually do the trick. You could also contact some of the "big guys" at the dealership about it. Since there's a warranty, I'd try that...it'd be cheapest.

The reason the FMS Bosch injectors smooth out idle
and help top and mid range is because they are
matched closer than stock

FMS 2%
stock 15%

stock 1 hole spray
FMS 4 or 6 hole spray better atomization

The close matching will balance the cyls better
and allow the computer to run a better air fuel
ratio and will also help gas mileage on most
trucks

Lets just take 60 for a number with stock
injectors you could have 1 at 75 and 1 at 45
using the 15% now when the comp enriches the
45 would come to 60 but the 75 would be 90
oe vise versa 45 at 30 and the 75 at 60

Not very good when trying to maintain a 14.7 to 1
Air/Fuel Ratio

How in the world can the comp hold a constant
air fuel ratio with these injectors it cant and
jumps back and forth affecting performance and
gas mileage

FMS 62 58 with a total of 4% not 30%, holding the
Air/Fuel ratio more constant can only help

The price on the factory 1 hole wonders is
anywhere from $80 to $120 each and a whole set
of Bosch FMS is only $180

If you have moded the intake side
1.7's
cold air
Bigger TB
with a low restriction exh than the better
injectors will show a 5hp gain in the mid range
and top rpm's on a stock motor just overall
smother run and better gas mileage will be
noticeable

Well worth the money and a good upgrade that
will have you sitting real good as you do more mods
to your motor

Bruce at fiveomotorsports.com is also a great guy
to deal with I even have called him on his cell
phone on Sundays to get an order out first thing
Monday morn.

Bruce also knows his injectors if you have any
questions just ask him he will take the time to
explain anything you want to know

Larry,
In reference to the FMS at 2% and stock at 15%, I think your numbers should read as follows:
FMS at 60 +/- 2% is 58.8 to 61.2 (60 x 0.02= 1.2)
Stock at 60 +/- 15% is 51 to 69 (60 x 0.15= 9)

A percent (%) is the "Change" from target, 2 or 15 would be a "Tolerance." Using 60 and being between 45 and 75 would be +/- 25%. Using 60 and being between 62 and 58 would be +/- 3%.

One question I would ask is "With 4 or 6 hole injectors, are there any long term durability issues(i.e. plugging) in use? With no in-line fuel filter, is an in-line filter recommended or is the tank mounted filter sufficient? I was wondering if the stock injector(Opening diameter)is sized according to filtering ability.

Thank you
