Subject: How good is the performance PCM?? IP: Logged
Message: I am going to the dealer Hopefully Friday to have my PCM changed out to see if this is what is giving me the problem and not the cr ank sensor. And if it does not cost that much to get the Performance one I am going to get it. I was just wondering how good it was or how much of a difference I would notice with having it.
Thank for the input

Message: I have the mopar performance PCM in my 93 Dakota, I love it. It makes all your other mods work to their full potential! The 92-93 3.9L cost $500 from the dealer, but they do not sell them for GenII's anymore. I got mine out of my cusines truck and it cost me nothing.

Message: Well mine is a Genlll. It's a 99 CC. They are going to change the PCM for free and I am hoping that I can get them to put in a performance one for fairly cheap. I hope. Larry what do you think about these? or anyone else who has one?

Message: There are no PCMs for the 97+ up 3.9 engines. Only things like
superchips and jet chip or a custom flash from a 3rd party
company exist for us.

Message: Well I called the dealer yesterday to set up an appointment he said that the PCM is still under wanranty for 8 year/80,000 mile. The dude said that he would run a dianostics on the PCM to see if it was malfunctioning and if so the dianostics and the PCM would be covered. But if it is not than it would not be covered.
And if it not the PCM then he said that he would do a dianostics on the fuel pump to check it which would cost $27 for that. And it is not covered under waranty.
I don't think that the fuel pump would be causing the truck to do what it has been doing. It just dies, all of the gauges drop all the way down and the odometer says "no bus" I hope that it is the PCM so that it can just be changed out tomorrow.
Whys is there not a performence PCM for our trucks yet? That really sux. The supertuners are a little to spendy for me right now. But oh well.
Thanks for the help guys.

Message: thanks mark, Larry had already pointed that out. Well I just dropped my truck off at the dealer and I will go back to check it out at about an hour and a half or so. Hopefully it is the PCM so that I do not have to pay for the dianostics on it which is $27. Well I will post the results as soon as I get back. Thanks

Message: Well I've got some good news and I got some bad news. The bad news is that It is the PCM that is going out, so they have to change it. The good news is that I do now have to pay for it. They had to order the PCM so they will give me a call back when they get the thing in. Then I have to take the truck back. Then I will let you guys know more info then. Thanks for all the help.
