Subject: battery temp sensor mod??? IP: Logged
Message: i was thinking about modding my batterey temp sensor so i can get a constant 14.2 volts no matter what the temp is outside. any suggestions? i figured i would take it inside my house let it warm up to about 70* measure the resistance and buy a resistor with the same resistance to use in its place. the main reason i want to do this is so i can have a steady voltage to my amp (yes i already have a power cap) and more power to the coil would this harm my charging system in any way or should i go for it?
thanks for the input

Message: if ya try a work around on the fact that your voltage regulator lets a bit more power through when it gets realy cold out, most likely your gonna wake up one morning with a very week or dead battery, Dodge did it for a reason. Your best bett is to get a voltage regulater from a really good car stereo shop, yes they really make such a thing, and use that with the dedicated battery you already should have installed to help power that amp when you crank it up. If you are worried about the power to the amp, the worst thing you can do is have it set up for insuffeciant voltage/amperage and not worry about 13.6 volts no load from the battery verses 14.2/14.6 volts when running and the alternator is charging. The .4 volts is almost nothing (and 14.2/14.6 is actually the voltage that everything on your truck is running on) comparing to the damage you can do if you draw too much power/amperage through the charging curcuit without having a backup battery to supply the needed power.

thanks again
