Message: I looked at the TB you have listed. No where in the description does it say what year the TB is from. I put a v8 tb on v6 from that came from a 1999 durango with a 360, it worked fine. I took the cheap route though. Instead of buying a new or used v8 linkage cable made for the ball stud. I ground down the disc till the existing v6 cable would fit and it works fine. I WOULD CONTACT THE SELLER OF THE TB AND ASK IF HE KNOWS WHAT YEAR OF TRUCK THE TB IS FROM. Post the number from the TB here on the board and I will check the v8 tb number on mine. I see you have a 1998 dak.

Message: Did a little search and came up with this no.
OEM 5.2/5.9 V8 TB #53032691AA, if your number matches it should work.

Message: Daffy, I took a good look at the TB you bought off ebay and compared it to my TB. I could not make out the no. on your TB right below the Holley trademark looking straight down at it.
Here is the number off of mine, again looking straight down v8 #12R15041B; the v6 #1215044B; this is the number I was looking for. If your's matches it should work fine.
Another thing to keep in mind you will need to transfer all your sensors over from your v6 TB to the v8TB. Also you will have to move the Black linkage bracket also. Also cleanup the IAC sensor off your v6 tb with carb cleaner on the plunger part and rub a dab of oil on the o-ring to mount it properly.
After installation, when you start up your truck, the initial response will be for the engine to idle very high. Let it idle for a couple of minutes, watch your tach if you have one in your truck, the rpms should start to gradually drop. Next stop your truck, start it up again let it idle for a couple of minutes, shut it down start it up again let it idle for about 30 seconds and take it for a drive, it should completely learn the new settings in about 200 miles. Good Luck and report back on your findings.
If all goes well, you may want to take on an additional task cutting off the air horns and removing rounding out the intakes. I noticed additional performance when I did this.
Daffy, Be for-warned that once you put the V8-TB on your truck, you will become infected with trompitis.

Message: thanks everyone, 12R15041B is the exact number on my tb. i am in the process of removing the air horns, and polishing the surface. i won't do anything to the bores, because i dont want to remove the torque step and lose a whole lot of low end.
again thanks for the help, thats why i joined and will continue to subscribe to this site. its great!!!

Message: trompitus lol i already have it ;-) i think its a progressive disease, more power=heavier right foot. good thing i have powerslots and hawk pads on the way hehe.
oh i dont have a torque wrench, so are the bolts really sensitive or is it like mounting a carb (i had an 81 trans am with a 77 400 in it) i just hand tightened the bolts and could feel the gasket compressing when i put a wrench to it. hope that will work
thanks

| update on tb install and ? about idle IP: Logged
Message: i have installed the v8 tb on my truck and reset the pcm i think (unhooked the neg cable from bat and turned key for 30 seconds) it runs great, but the idle acts funny. it will slowly fluctuate between about 700 and 900 on my tach. will this go away with time or should i check my mounting bolts? also the gas pedal is alot harder to push with the new tb. should i buy some return springs and sue them to help ease the tension? i assume that the harder spring on the v8 tb will wreak havok on the cruise control as well
please help
