Subject: 7mm spark wires IP: Logged
Message: got a tune up yesterday and they put 7mm spark wires on my truck should i go buy new 8mm or wait.seems like i lost a little horse power they also put in the platinum spark plugs.

Message: The 7mm is fine with a stock IGN
If they installed palt plugs you need to open the
gap or they will run hot due to the lower
resistance the palt has to fireing the plug
go .045
Also if you want to trasfer more volts to the
plugs the Napa MO26 & MO28 cap and rotor have
solid brass incerts
A bigger plug wire with less resistance will also
help taylor 8mm or MSD 8.5mm both around $60 a
set, just get for same year Dak 5.2 and you will
have a perfict fit with 2 wires left over
But open the gap on those plat plugs that is
probably why it seams to have less power and it
will also effect your gas mileage
