Subject: are powerslot rotors any good?? IP: Logged
Message: As soon as i get my income tax back, im upgrading the pos front rotors on my 98 dak. And was wondering how good are the powerslot rotors?
will i get better braking performance, or less warping or (hopefully) both.
secondly what about kevlar pads? i have heard bad things about the ceramic ones so i'm staying away from them
thanks

Message: Don't know how true it is, but I've heard shops have a hard(er) time turning those powerslot rotors.

Message: MAKE SURE when you upgrade to powerslot you change the pads to ceramic pads. Other wise you might get noise that sound like your ball joints are bad even though they arent. I upgrade to powerslot rotors and everything felt the same. After awhile of driving I was getting this noise when I turned and put it in reverse. I decided to change the pads to Raybestos ceramic pads an the braking power is soooo much better and there are no noises at all. ;)

Message: thanks for the replies, i think the ceramic pads would only be destructive to the stock rotors right? i just want better stopping power and durability, i dont tow anything ( 300 pounds of sand in the winter) thats it. i just want better braking. my dad's 95 f150 ex cab had better braking with the stock stuff, it probably has 800-900 pounds on my dak.
thanks again for the replies

Message: I have Powerslot rotors with Hawk pads on my '99 CC.
I have just over 32,000 miles them with NO signs of warping, they're still like new.
In contrast, I had to turn my stock rotors twice in the first 40,000 miles.
The biggest single thing you can do to help stop warping is to torque all of the lugs down with a torque wrench(90ftlb's).
Do NOT use an air gun to tighten the lugs, they over tighten(120+ftlb's) and they don't come close to an even torque at all 6 lugs.

Message: I don't have any idea about kevlar pads. Some pad material is NOT intended to be used on the street because a street car can't build up enough heat in the pads/rotors to work properly.
The Powerslots and Hawk pads are a huge increase over the stock set up in terms of stopping power.

Message: ok i have decided to get the powerslots and hawk ferro carbon brake pads, hope all goes well. oh by the way, is the hex on the caliper pins 7mm? (98 2wd) i dont remember off the top of my head. (same rotors from factory with 51000 + miles) lol warping pretty bad and its embarrasing how much it squeaks from the driver's side
i want attention with my dak but not negative
thanks
