Subject: modded v6 tb IP: Logged
Message: Before I try for a V8 tb on my 3.9, I was going to try modding my stock V6 tb first. But if I trim the TQ step and get rid of the air horns, am I even going to notice a difference? If not, I'll just go with the V8 tb right away. I don't mean a huge difference, just one that I will notice. Any help would be appreciated.

Message: the advantage is improved volumes of air and better throttle response. Not a huge improve in hp, but hopefully it shows up on the "butt dyno".

Message: takes about an hour with a Dremel and little sanding drums, just remove all the sensors, don't try to remove the throttle blades you will damage the screws, use the blades as a stop while you are sanding the TQ step out just don't make a habit of running the sanding drum into them to much, I hardly touched mine but maybe once or twice. When you get done spray it all down good with Brake parts cleaner or get some of the good 3M TB cleaner just make sure you get all the dust off.

Message: There's a great article at www.fast4x4.net. Look around, there's other good info there too.
DIshsoap and water workgood too, just spray down with some WD-40 or B-12 chemtool. It's aluminum so no worries.

Message: I am really curious if anyone has pics of the TQ steps. I don't know what they look like, and am a little bit scared to grind something off that I shouldn't have, or grind something off that doesn't make a difference.

Message: Open your throttle blades and run your finger down the sides of the bores you will feel a bump or bulge just above where the blades close that is the tq step
