When I put it into drive the truck will accelerate by itself up to 10 miles an hour and when I let off the gas it stays at the same speed. Any help would be grateful on a 1998 v6 3.9l. Thank you

Also check your TPS throttle position sensor
located on the driver side of TB center wire and
ground key on not running

should be around .35 to .75, open and close the
throttle a few times and be sure it always returns
to low volts.

The IAC Idle Air Control located on the back of
the throttle body, remove and clean with carb
cleaner but do not force or twist the pluger in
any way just spray out good and tamp dry with
a paper towel or rag

And spray out the valve seat put a little oil or
grease on the o-ring and reinstall

Either a #20 or #25 torx needed to remove from TB

I once broke a return spring on my F&B throttle body and my truck had the same symptoms.
