to soon and run cold
They do sell the super stant which is ok
I just ordered a Jet 180 will have it by the end
of the week and let you know how it works have
been using all super stants.
on your 93 the gauge straight up is 200 the first
line in normal is 160 and the far end 240 so be
sure you do not get one that runs to cold.
I have got a few that did and was pised when I
had to change them out, now I test them in water
on a hot plate with a meat thermo to be sure
they open when are supose to befor instal
a chepo from autozone ran 165
a reg stant runs 170 175
super stant 180 185
Jet will find out

Message: i have a "cheap" autozone 180* ts in my 98 dak and it gives me no problems with check engine lights.
i dont really know what temp it runs because the factory gauges are a little vauge, but i can tell you this. in the winter it will just barely touch the edge of the 2 in the 210 range, no where near the 210 indicator. in the summer time it sits on the number 2 again no where near the 210 indicator. so i have no idea what temp its actually at, its alot cooler running then with my stock t/s though and it runs alot better.
just my 2 cents

Message: Thanks daffydak. I hear so many between the Autozone and the Others. Larry. How much is one of those superstants run? And being 18 with no creditcard.. Do you think You could give me a price for the thermo and shipping to here? I could mail you money for it if You would be ever so kind. Thanks

Message: Hey Tank/Eric... thermo's are cheap. A good one is prolly no more than around $15-20 (that may be a bit high), but usually around $5-10 I think. Shipping shouldn't be too much either. Couple bucks I'd think. I think they sell em on truckperformance.com.

Message: There are a lot of parts stores that sell the
super stant check around they run around $12
Autozone used to also carrie the robert shaw 180
GT775 not listed but out in the store on the
shelf.
The guy with the cheap autozone got lucky and got
one that opened at the right temp.
So check your local parts stores it will save you
a shipping charge which is not cheap these days

Message: Yes Robert Shaw is one of the best but hard to
find
more precice controll of the coolent temp I used
to get them from Autozone but our local no longer
has them. I think I bought all of them
That is why I have been installin the super stant
Now I am going to try the JET's 180 should have
it by friday and will install it as soon as it
gets here, the one in this stock motor I am
running is crap
It peaks at 180 than drops to 165 170 and trips
the mil light even up to 40 degrees outside its
junk

Message: Sorry to bring up an old post but I went to the auto parts store tonight and bought a 180 t-stat. It's the same brand that tazzy mentioned above called motorad. It cost 11 dollars. I couldn't find a robertshaw or stant and I don't want to pay shipping for a t-stat off the net. I'm just wondering if motorad is an alright t-stat to use.
