Subject: Please, I need help!!!! IP: Logged
Message: I'm going nuts. I've got a 93 4x4 five speed. Occasionally (more often than not) my RPMs "hang" and rev or surge. That is when I engage the clutch at almost any speed the RPMs will hang where they were, say 3000 or they will actually rev up higher, and them the problem will sometimes go away at a stop although not always. Also, my fuel gauge is all over the place, any ideas on that would be great, but this engine surge is making me a little crazy.

Message: I also have a 93. My fuel gauge was the same way when I bought the truck, if you replace the fuel pump, it will solve the problem, but if you cant do it yourself it'll cost you about $300.

Message: IAC Idle air control back of throttle body
remove and clean may be shot
Check TPS voltage drivers side of TB center wire
and ground key on not running should be from
.35 to .75 closed throttle and as you open
throttle the voltage will rise but be sure it
always returns to low volts
But it sounds more like a dirty or bad IAC
The fuel guage is either a bad ground or sending
unit. check all the connections first
