Give us some basics, what type of performance are you looking for? How much are you willing to spend, and can you do any work yourself?

If you want your V6 to spank a V8, you better be ready to fork over more money than the cost of a V8, cuz it's gonna take a lot of modding...

There's a few guys here that could suggest a few things though.

Josh

Red 98 RC V6 2wd Single in/dual out exhaust (soon to be switched to a flowmaster 40 single in/dual out), s-bolt "mod", Edelbrock 10" round air cleaner w/ K&N air filter, removed rubber flap...and more to come

nitrous/supercharger/turbocharger
gears 3.91 or better
headers
exhaust
intake (Hughes)
roller rockers 1.7s (modded valve covers)
superchips programmer?
F&B throttle body
K&N FIPK or similar or homemade
MSD 6A ignition and blaster ss coil
MSD wires or similar like JBA

that should get you going, so many mods, so little time, or money

man... i hope you dont expect it to take all that.

just a nitrous kit would do fine.. and compared to the cost of an engine swap, the nitrous is much much cheaper.

A good throttle body the 1.7's and a cold air
intake set up will help a lot

And on the 98 a microchips super tunner to upgrade
the computer.

Than think about headers and a low restriction muff

Lower gears like 3.91

If you just want something to blow the doors off
the ocasional a$$hole Nitrious will work a 100
shot

There are a lot of things you can do depending on
how far you want to take it.

Stroker crank
Higher comp
Cam, mod intake ported heads.

With the parts I have coming for my stroker I will
have well over $7000 in just the motor
New 10.5 to 1 pistons not an off the shelf item
I have to have them custom made because of the
longer stroke, $450
was at 10 to 1 but want more comp

Larry first I must say you have reached hero status. Second where in the hell did you find a stroker crank I've been looking. Also where have you been finding things for the engin. I am looking at builing an engine similar to yours to put in my 94 2wd. Should be a screamer. Also if your ever in need of a tech at your shop just let me know I can always use a new job.

I think I'm looking for a little different performance than most people. I want power for some off road action. What kind of mods should i do for this? Is there LSD available for a 92, or should I go with a locker? Also, what kind of mods would I have to do with the front end? I'm not too big on the 4x4ing yet, but always willing to learn.

If you want to do light duty 4 wheeling the limited slip diff is great because it has better on road manners. The locking diff is for more hard core off-roading. The Detroit locker is bullet proof and there are several limited slip units. Contact http://www.4wheelparts.com for parts.

If you lift it and add bigger tires, change the gears to at least 3.92 and maybe even 4.10 depending on the size of tire you use (I have 4.10 in my 2wd street truck). The 4.10 gears will give you better performance for sure. Add the diff of your choice at that time.

Yeah, I was thinking of going with the 4.10s but not sure how much they cost/how hard it is to do it myself. Same with the LSD. I'm hopefully going with some 31x10.50 BFG Mud Terrains or All Terrains, not sure which yet. I dont know if they will fit on stock heighth though. I eventually will do a lift, but until then I'd like to have some nice sized tires on it. Anyone know if they fit on a Gen II?

If you're only upgrading to a 31 X 10.50, there is no need to change gears. It will give you more grunt, but save some change off the bat if you're off-road excursions will be few. I am running the stock gears in my 97 2WD and they pull fine. However, it is your truck and your greenbacks.

Hey, i've been wonderin what the underdrive pulleys are. Not quite sure, maybe i know them by a different name, or maybe i dont know them at all???? Also, i have a '92 so i'm not sure about the venom chip.

Money will play a big factor in this, but i can afford a mod every couple of weeks.
