Message: Let me speak for myself and for the rest of the board by saying remove it. The small amount of water let in is not enough to harm anything. I speak from 3 years experience on 3 different vehicles, yes some water will get into the engine compartment, but nothing to worry over, and think of all the colder air you will be getting!! to make it a really clean look make sure you remove all the plastic "screws" that are holding the flap in place.

Message: Yeah, I removed mine and have had zero trouble...but then again, my intake sits right on top my throttle body. lol.
From what I've read, most people say unless you live in a monsoon prone area or are constantly driving in deeper water, it won't do any harm.

Message: ok i will remove it but i am still worried about water getting into my air horn(s) they are mounted on the screws left over from the old airbox and face forward but maybe it will make the horn louder and trust me its loud enough lol
so are you sure it wont hurt the horns?
thanks

Message: Hmmm...not the stock horn I take it? If it's not the stock horn, it COULD pose a problem...not sure how much water it'd take to destroy it. If it's stock, it shouldn't hurt it.

Message: yeah they are aftermarket ones from autozone dual note red airhorn i dont remember the company that made it or if their waterproof (the compressor is mounted in an out of the way location on the inside about 2 inches from the flap area then the hoses run to the horns they may be safe because the horns themselves are mounted on the old studs left over from the factory airbox removal i think im going to go for it and just keep the flap around incase it gives me any problems
thanks

Message: Where have you mounted this horn? I cannot find a single place to mount mine and have owned it for over a year. I have red plastic ones made by WoLo that come with a compressor, hoses and all. There is no place to put it all. This horn is better in a old car with more room like a Dodge Dart. Where can I mount it? Have any pictures of the area your talking about?

I use one factory horn by the battery, and the low pitch Wolo out of the pair, so it's louder with the compressor driving only one horn. I aimed it backwards on the right fenderwell to avoid water intake. The sound reflects off the firewall and is loud. There are existing holes in the fenderwell to mount the compressor and horn.

Message: I've got a set of Hella Triple Air horns installed in the same spot as the stock horns. I had to make a few brakets but it worked out great.
As for the rubber flap. I didn't remove mine completly but I did cut a hole in it so it allows more air to the intake. Which is also completely custom and insulted from heat.
