Subject: ? for Larry or Anyone ! IP: Logged
Message: I just got back in town from a two day trip and when I went to start my 87 & it idled for about 5 minutes then died. so I tried to start it back up and I had to hold the gas pedal to the floor to keep it running,( it sounds like the cat is clogged but after it warms up it runs good but when I first start out in the mornings I have to hold the gas down to clear the cat.) last week I tried to cut it off with a saw but the metal was too thick. What do you think I should cut it off with (Besides welding it off) ?
P.s. I have removed my smog pump
Thanks in advance

Message: just get a heavy chain & tie one end to the cat and the other to a tree, leave lots of slack to build up speed and floor it. Should come right off.

Message: why take the cat off just disconect the exaust at the rear and use a prybar or a long rod and knock the elements out of the cat. If your cat has started to disintergrate it may have stopped your muffler up in which case it will have to be replaced. If you do this be sure and wear a good dust mask the dust from the cat is not healthy.
