Message: i got the 1.7's rockers & studs only from Sam @ socaldakota.com. if your gonna rev the motor over 5500 rpm go with the complete kit: guides pushrods, etc.. i am not planning on racing just wanted a little more power so i just got the rockers. now i need time to do the install.
p.s. Sam can also hook you up with valve covers because you need to modify the baffles in them to clear the rockers. hope this helps.

Message: According to performancecenter.com, I do not need to change the valve covers. Are you sure that needs to be done. Also, what does the install cost, how long should it take at a shop.

Message: if you get the 1.7's and keep your stock cam... ignore the high rev kit. The stock cam isnt good after 4800 rpms and it would be a waste to rev over that (you could even float a valve).
you can use the stock valve covers (because that's all we got) but you either need to remove the baffles or dent them in and make room. I have also heard of using two valve cover gaskets.

Message: JFH:
I got my crower 1.7's from Sam at socaldakotas.com the same as daddio I only got the studs and rockers. DONT remove your baffles. You can take a 2x4 and put the valve covers in a vise or on a rag on the floor the 2x4 should be the same lenght as the valve covers mabe a couple of inches shorter mark a reference line on the 2x4 and then take a hammer and knock the baffels down about 3/8th to 1/2 of an inch be sure that the tabs at the end of the baffels are bent open enough so that oil can get in and the gasses from the engine can get out. If this seems to be a pain you can get a set of powder painted covers from Sam that has a custom made baffel welded in by sam. He has them in all colors and they do look nice. If you cut the baffel out the pcv valve will suck oil like crazy.

You can do the rockers yourself. Follow the directions, try turning the crank by hand with the spark plugs out. Make sure you don't drop a push rod into the engine. Push in the baffles with a 2x4 as advised above.
If you decide to pay someone, try to see they had done the mod before. Experience helps and makes it goes quicker.
Do a search. There are many threads with great advice. Good luck.

Message: Mark 3 is right. The mechanic who did the install knocked the last push rod in the back of the engine 6th cylinder and down she went. He spent 30 min trying to fish it out a magnet. I cautioned him afterwards and he had to lift the intake manifold out. I think would done a little better job but working by myself made it difficult. Follow the directions.

Message: Take a look at the group buy going on in the performance section. Harland Sharp roller rockers don't require any of the valve lash nonsense other rockers do. Only $262 a set plus shipping. Their prices go up alot on March 1st I'm told by their distributors.

Message: Hey-- I'm back... (sorta)-- I am on the road and will be home tonight/this afternoon.
(my mom is doing better, but won't be going home-- most likely a nursing home, it sucks-- but that's the way life goes-- thanks for the kind words guys)
If you buy roller rockers, and want to stay with your stock cam (at least for now), get the 1.7s--- 10-15 rwhp increase depending on your vehicle/mods... Non- adjustables are NOT the way to go (the adjustment for the Crower is the easiest of any adjustable rocker arm, and allows for more precise setup--- ) Some people forget, Crower rockers are also stainless-- and the strongest rockers available (they'll outlast any aluminum rocker, adjustable or non-adjustable). I offer the modified baffle valve covers to help you guys out that don't want to whack in the baffles on your stocks--- DON'T REMOVE them completely-- you need them to prevent sucking in oil through your pcv and breather.
The adjustment takes about 20 minutes on a V8, so on a V6 it should be less of course... but I offer free phone support for the install, I'll even call ya back and walk ya through it-- I am available on the weekends and can hang on the phone to help ya out.
If you have a stick, and sometime rev beyond 5500 rpm-- the additional cost of the guideplates/pushrods is worth it-- if you honestly stay below that (I use to hit 5200 rpm all day long on the non-rev) you'll be fine with the standard kit.
