Just a opinion but my 1989 Dakota handles pretty well for a truck. It doesn't have the power to race up a hill, but its a decent truck otherwise. It gets 21+ on freeway, just wish I did more freeway driving.
PS. Towing a 22' sailboat with it sounds possible. Wonder how much it would weigh though. Uphill would be a drag, downhill would have to crawl down depending on how much it weighed. It would be a stretch.

if your that unhappy with your motor swap it.
i've seen a guy getting a dak around a viper v10.
i don't think he has a lack of power anymore
so build your own dakota srt-10 and go have fun.
