Message: im thinking of buying some headers.
i have a 2002 dak with 20000 miles i was wondering of the diffuculty to do this home with the skills and tools of a shadetree mechanic at the risk of breaking a bolt off or should i take it in.
if heard horror stories of breaking bolts in older engines im not sure of the chances in a new one

factory missing in action and I broke 1 myself
had to drill 3 out.
Take a look at your manifolds be sure they are all
there right now.
Yes there is less chance of breaking a stud on a
newer truck.
Otherwise they just bolt right up to you stock
exh. You should have a better throttle body or
you will see no gains from the headers

Message: If you are worried about breaking a bolt off with headers, I would still pull the bolts out and use an anti-seize compound on them so you can add headers late if you wish. If one breaks, maybe the dealer can replace it under warranty. I had two broken. One had been broken for a long time. Had I known that, hopfully my dealer would have replaced it. Drilling out is NO fun. Good luck.

Message: Drilling sucks to say the least
left hand drill needed and on the G3's if you
break a back one you need to remove the fender
well to get a straight shot
Take Deep Purple's advice even if 1 does break the
manifold will not leak they are mating sufaces
with no gasket and 2 or even 3 bolts broke will
not cause a leak
