Message: well it isn't the ring in the distributer it is good and tight the shaft has a liitle play in it but not enough to hurt it . When idling it almost sounds like it has an over sized cam. After running a while it smells like it is burning to rich.

Message: 43 Fault in ignition coil control circuit.
Crank sensor
check the conections first its located behind the
pass side head down by the bell housing 2 1/2
allen head or reg bolts to remove
yes upstream o2 controlls air fuel in closed loop
downstream just tells the comp that the converter
is working
Who told you 43 was #5 cyl is wrong

Message: Is there any way to check the cat. I took the front O2 sensor out to try and relieve some pressure it seemed like it idles better but I can't tell since the O2 effects the computer and fuel input

Message: could my transmission be causing my engine to misfire? I cleaned the air solinoid with carb cleaner it had some gunk in it now it is working .
the engine seems to be doing alot better as long as I don't drive it . Idles fine and revving doesn't bother it but when I drive it I get code 43 I had the sync checked it was only off 3 degrees. what do you think

Message: Mine just started doing the same thing. It is also a 96 with a 3.9l Auto Zone hooked up a scanner and got codes for cyclinder #5 misfire and random misfire. MIL code I get is 43. Have put in new plugs, wires, cap, rotor, and even replaced fuel injector seals (didn't do that when I replaced the heads so just wanted to get it out of the way, old ones were very hard). Will check crank position sensor, TSP sensor, and will clean throttle body tonight. Will also check distributor pick up and sync. Anything else I could be missing? Help!

Message: Try this as it seems to be working with my truck.. Put in some dry gas. I have done this tonight to mine and its running with only a slight skip (still think I have a bad fuel injector, move the one from #5 cyclinder to #1 when I was changing oil rings last night and the misfire moved cyclinders).

Message: once warm it runns like it should with zero issues. when it is cold and sputtering when i hit the gas, if i either rev it in neutral or shut it off and restart(even going down the road) it will run fine for a moment or two then continue sputtering until warm. any suggestions
