Subject: Clutch question: RSVP ASAP IP: Logged
Message: On the way home today, it was really hard for me to pull it down into second and up into first. I just got this truck and i've been havin to push teh clutch all the way to the floor to get it to shift. On my other dak, i only had to push it a few inches. But anyways, no it's really tough to get it into gear. Is there a way to adjust this, or is the clutch just gone? Please help soon....

Message: I have always found that this tends to change from vehicle to vehicle... By this I mean that on my dak when the clutch was finally going it would actually shift better, but wouldn't engage till it was nearly all the way up and would slip in higher gears while trying to hold back on hillsides... On the other hand my dads ford had to be pushed through the floor to shift and would have to be forced into gear all the time... Got to where you had to let the truck roll a little to get it to go into reverse... It would catch right at the floor "maybe an inch at most"... But after I got my new clutch it would shift all right, but not as good as bad one and would engage right at floor like my dads would when his burnt up... So like I said really depends on your truck...
Has it been doing this since you got it??? Or just started... A lot of the dodge tranny's come winter time will not shift good into 1st and 2nd to begin with due to thicker oil flow and the fact that the syncro's will freeze up, so this may be happening as well...
There's just no telling unless you just up and decide to tear into it or wait until spring or rather a warm day :))
