Message: Still running rich..
Went to dealer..used DRB..he said all sensors working ok..
But the IAC was only stepping once.
Said a Vacuum leak will do that..
I used soapy water found no leaks...
Any help...
Thanks...

Message: Just read the other post and answered the question
yes a vac leak will do that also mis adjusted
throttle plates, open to far
Evidently if the sensors are ok you must have used
the wrong scale on your meter because the readings
you listed were to cold for an engine that is at
operating temp.
What throttle body do you have on the truck if
you can put your hand over the entrance for the
IAC located at the top back of TB the engine
should slow about 100 rpm that would put you at
about 10 steps

Message: I have a V-8 tb Off a 96...
I cant seem to find any leaks..
As far as the IAC..It has been pulled and re installed 3 times.cleaned tb..Ported v-6 tb..Installed v-8 tb.Wonder if maybe i messed it up..
I put my finger in the hole for the IAC while running..can feel very little movement..
On the DRB..My IAT was showing 154 degees ..
Is that aabout right the truck was driven approx 50 miles before I got there..
I got a new one just in case..
Thanks for all the Good advice..
Yes I wish I was close to you..Then I know my truck would be running top notch..

Message: 154 degees yes that is about right
does the motor slow down when you do that.
If not and you cant find any leaks you need to
adjust the throttle plates if the idle is right
but the IAC at 1 step you need to close the plates
a little may be open a little to far for the V8
aplication
The only way to do it is remove the plug on the
TB its located right were an idle screw would be
on an old carb, remove the plug and back the
adjusting screw back a little.
Use a drill and drill a small hole in the plug and
pry it out than you will have access to the
adjusting screw
Also you may have a leak on the IAC o ring did you
use a little oil or grease on the oring when you
installed the IAC that could be it.

Message: It would stay the same your idle is running off
the air from the plates not the IAC
check that o ring and go from there

Message: Forgot to mention my F&B was the same way when I
bolted it on and the idle would also surge up and
down.
And after 2 300 miles the idle would not tune in
until finaly I adjusted the plates with the idle
screw which is accesable on the F&B and is also
in there instructions to do that if idle is off
There is also article on the KRC website on how to
set up your IAC somewhere on there site

Message: Thanks A lot..
I found the article..
I already have a new IAC reserved for me...
So Tommorrow i'll get that all set..
Will this help the running rich problem?
I noticed after I installed the TB..I would get a slight stopping type jolt when I'm accelerating and Then lift quick...

Message: I READ SOMEWHERE THAT BY SPRAYING STARTING FLUID ON THE VACUME HOSES YOU WILL GET A DIFFERENT RPM. I HAVE NEVER TRIED THIS, BUT WOULD THINK IT BETTER THAN SOAPY WATER WHILE THE ENGINE IS RUNNING.

Message: REplaced..IAC and IAT..
Noticed then when I removed IAT..It was fully installed anly about 4 threads..would not go in farther..New IAT is fully seated..
Idle Approx 800 RPM..seems to hold steady..
Hope this fixed it..
Would like it to run a bit leaner...

Message: You can use starting fluid but be carful it
ignites very easy don't spray near exh or any wires that may arc it will start a fire.
I have done that a few times
See what happens the IAT can make your motor run
very rich if its reading cold

Message: I agree with the Starting Fluid..Carefull..I've seen to many fires that way..
As of now I'm running with a new IAT and IAC..
Kinda cool I get the 20% employee discount at Auto Zone..And I don't work there..
Waiting on my Trans go kit..I'll install.then Possibly do another Dyno run..
I'm still debating between Crower or Harlen sharp.
Rockers..We will see..
