Subject: Water driping from my muffler IP: Logged
Message: OK Gang I have a question. When I first start my Dak I am getting water driping from the tail pipe(which is normal) but also from the back of the muffler. I get as much water, if not more from the muffler, than the tailpipe. I called the service dept at the local Dodge dealer(not known for there great repair work)and they said this is normal, the stock muffler has a vent to allow water out. Anybody else have this problem or ever heard of this? I have not noticed any increase in the sound level of the engine. Thanks for the help

Message: Yeah, our 2000 Jeep Cherokee Sport does the exact same thing, guess this helps the muffler from rusting out. My 91 Dakota has a nice big hole in the muffler right now, its rusted out pretty bad.

Message: Most mufflers have a hole in htem to let the water drip out and keep the muffler from rusting. I've had a couple mufflers that didn't have the hole so i drilled one myself.
