Subject: Autolite Platinum AP5224 IP: Logged
Message: Ok, I have been running the 3923 but want to try the 5224 instead. The truck runs ok but I still feel that it ran better with champion plugs so I figured I would try the Autolite Platinum stock heat and see how it reacts. One reason is there seems to be a spot in the idle that sounds off I am by no means a mechanic but gut says fouled plug... So instead of just cleaning and letting it go why not some different plugs. Also I have a question on the smell of my exhaust. It seems to have gotten a little worse, stinky and was wondering is that an indicator of something. Just smells like normal exhaust just strong I guess.
Thanks in advance,
BigB

Message: Go to page 75. They have a subject named Time for a tune up, dated 05/13/03.
I personally suggest you to use the regular 5224. or the factory Champion RC12LC4.

Message: I have the JBA, the 180 t-stat and the msd coil. The rest of it is stock. I keep my Champion. I have tried the APP5224. They didnt work well.
The TB upgrade is a great one. This is my next move as well.

Message: Yes don't use the APP double platinum just the AP
and gap them .005 over factory specs.
The reason the APP's did not run well is because
the spark was to hot do to the less resistance the
platinum takes to fire over std chrome nickel
The Autolite and Champ plugs are both copper core
that is what mopar talks about in there tech articles
The solid copper core will transfer the heat from the
tip quicker and avoid a hot spot that can cause
detonation
The extended tip 52 series plug will run about a half
heat range cooler do to the incoming charge cooling
the tip better and will have better off idle and low end
response over the 39 series. The extended tip in the
champ is what mopar calls the truck plug, it solves
hesitation and detonation problems and if you complain
about any of these symptoms mopar will install the
truck plug and in most trucks it solves the problem
Use the AP5224 and gap them .040 or .045 and they will
run great

Message: okies gang, i called MSD to find out if their coil would work on a 2000Kota 3.9...Tech dude says it wont work due to different wire hookups, but Accell makes a wire that can be used to hook the older coil design to the newer harness..I cant find this damned wire anywhere...I called Accel and asked thier tech guy, but i swear i got a newbie...gut feeling is he didnt even know what a coil was! Can anyone help?

Message: Well I got a 2000 DAK..3.9 and I have a full MSD system.Ignition-wires-coil-.
I'm using the 8228 coil.just needed to make a connector for the coil..90 cents at radio shack..
I think a lot of guys are using the Blaster SS coil.Works good..
Just with the MSD set up you may need to get the Tach adapter for it.8910 part #

Message: You can go 1 range cooler with a champ plug
11 instead of 12 but its not the truck plug just
the reg but they also run fine in these motors
I beleave the LC4 in champ is made in a 10 but 2
ranges colder may not run good at low speeds

your spark plugs do not determine your idle speed the PCM does. Any change you think you see is mental not physical.
