Subject: Dakota V6 HP after IP: Logged
Message: What would be a good guess on the Horsepower of a 93 Dakota with the 3.9 V6 after K&N Cold Air Intake, Mod V6 or V8 TB, 1.7 Roller Rockers, and Flowmaster 40 Series Exhaust being installed?
Remember the 93 had 180HP, not 175HP.

Message: that was advertised hp not actual, chrysler got a little enthusiastic about hp figures and after a few quys checked their trucks out found it to be a bit less then advertised, they had to cut back on the figure. just the opposite of the 426 hemi being advertised at 425 hp but putting out a lot more then that.

Message: not quite get your head out of your azz the 93's had different exhaust manifolds bigger ports and yes they had more HP than the newer years,
You might see about 30-35 HP with the above mods.

Message: the 93 did have better flowing exhaust manifolds, bigger y-pipe and 3" exhaust.
now that only added 5 hp
do you really think tose other mods add that much?
15-20 hp if you are lucky

Message: And as I have pointed out before...you dont exactly have a fresh engine. Your lucky if your Dak has factory HP after all its miles.
You have to do a compression check on all cylinders and see if they have stock #'s, check the injectors for full flow and equal patern and make sure every sensor has stock readings and then you MAY be aproching stock HP #'s.
Other then that all your mods might get you back to factory #'s or a couple above at best.
Sorry to be so negative, Im just a realist.
If you also got a Mopar PCM you would have a fun little Dak though, good luck.

Message: Yes mopar did make a performance PCM for 2 years
92 93 for the V6 but they have discontinued making them.
I would say around 25 30 Max if everything is up to snuff
and just right but on most trucks there is always something
off just enough to not get the gains you would expect.
I run a scan on my truck once a week to be sure every
thing is just where I want it, when I do replace a sensor
I take my digital volt meter right in the parts store and
check what I am getting, The last sensor I replaced was
the engine temp and they had to pull 3 off the self to find
one that was right on the money.
I also run an anolog nordask air fuel ratio meter
on its own o2 sensor and can see when its off
But most are not as picky as me nor do they have over
$6000 in there motor and need to be that picky, a temp
sensor reading just 10 degrees off on my motor severely
effects its performance and I can tell right away when 1
is off the money
I just took a compression check on my stroker with 11,000
miles and was amazed all the cyls are still within 2 lbs
of each other, I guess it pays to take your time and be
picky when your motor is put together.
