Subject: check engine light? IP: Logged
Message: hey guy's I was just curiou's to see if any of you had experienced my same problem?.I have a 96 dak 3.9 4x4 67k on her and my cat/conv was dusted so I finally got dodge to honor the warranty thanks to this board. My question now is the exhaust shop that they sent it to did a good job,but now my check engine light is on? When I got my truck home I crawled underneath to see what was done evrything looked cool.I've seen here that I should change the o2 sensor right before the cat? Do you think that it's possible that now that I have my new cat that now my o2 sensor is reading bad? I tried to reset the computer worked for a mile or so but now is back on.Any tip's would be appreciated.Thank's

Message: What code are you getting
key on off 3 times than on and watch the check
engine light binary flash
1 pause 2 pause that is 12 start of diagnosis
55 is end of test any in between are your trouble
codes.
Or go to auto zone and they will use a scanner
to check for free.

Message: larry or to anyone else who might know..which of the two o2 sensors is the most important one? I believe I saw something on this board before about one of them being the most beneficial to change.I have been told there is two I have only seen the one right in front of the converter I guess the other one is somewhere on the exh/manifold.I just dont want to spend the money for the wrong one.

Message: It's most likely the one right before the convertor. A Bosch universal O2 sensor should work. On the Gen 2 trucks the O2 sensor should be changed every 60,000 miles. At 67,000 your past due.

Message: Yes they call that one the upstream o2 the one
behind the converter is the downstream o2
The upstream 1 between the motor and cat control
your air fuel ratio once you reach operating temp
and closed loop has occured
The second 1 downstream just basicly tells the
comp that the converter is working ok
$60 at auto zone made by bosch and a good part
