Message: my Gen II is stuggling to hit the 16's. it went 17.1 stock and it's been very hard and annoying getting it to hit a 16.78. my mods are on my website at www.angelfire.com/la3/finedak. one week it went 16.78 and the next week it was back in the 17's. stock was 17.18 and sometime that's the best it'll do even with all the mods. it;s aggravating playing with the bolt on stuff. i'm honestly getting tired of playing with, going to save up to build a 360 for it, go alot faster for cheaper.

Message: For the price of a 360 install, you can put on a blower and all the goodies with less hassle and much more fun to spank R/T's with. I thought real hard about it, but I've had 4 V6's and never had a V8. Driven them, but never owned one. I figured I'll just stick with the V6. Seen a relatively modified V6 run a 12.5. Figured I'ld give it a try.

Message: 5.9L V8 install:
an engine (complete from intake to exhaust)... $1000 (give or take for a used one)
V8 mounts, wiring harness, computer, and if you have an auto you're ok but a manual requires a V8 flywheel.
Time and skill, otherwise labor costs... $35 an hour!
You have to take your truck to the highway patrol and get it inspected/have a new VIN number issued for it. Tell your insurance company. If you wreck your "V6" and they see the actual V8, your out of luck. They aren't paying.
Or, do all the bolt ons slowly over time yourself and save a ton of cash. Yes, a V8 has more potential, but a wicked V6 will easily spank mildly modified V8's. And the V8 swap requires all the money at once up front. And, you are without a truck until everything is done and running good. It can be done. Just expensive and a real headache.

Message: BigBen,
Work on your 60', you can get it lower with practice. Do not stab the throttle so hard off the line, easy into it. Rule of thumb: For every tenth off the 60', it takes off two tenths in the quarter mile. Take it down to a 2.4 (most common time for trucks) and you'll hit the 1/4 in about 17.4 or so. The experienced racers can usually get 2.2 on radial tires with a truck, but its not easy.
Cody,
www.speedtweaks.net carries alot of the parts you are looking for. Check with them for pricing on the intake and pulley (they have these for sure). I purchased my black magic fan from Summit, sweet mod combined with the ASP crank pulley.

Message: Big Ben, one reason you might be doggin is your tire combination. If you lower the tire you size you essentially lower the gear ratio. Everbody makes fun of my truck with 205/75/15's on it but when they line up with me they quit laughin.
