Message: Hey
I was just looking at buying a dakota, I have a '81 GM with a 350 in it and its a gas hole so I was thinking of getting a truck with better fuel milage
If anyone knows what kinda fuel milage say an '89 (or somewhere around there) V6 or V8 dakota gets let me know.
thanks

Message: I guess it depends on what you want to do with the truck? Is it a daily driver you use to go to work? Do you have a boat you want to haul? Do you want to buy new or used? A good comprise would be the 4.7 v8 with the 3.92 rear end and automatic or stick. The v8 with a stick shoud get good gas mileage.

Message: i,ve owned several 87-92 dak 4x4 3.9 auto and std
at 50-55mph out on the hy-way and some in town
15-17,have got as good as 19mpg.
if you drive 65-75mph more like 15mpg
if you tow boat, snowsled etc 13-16mpg
all these depend on how you drive
2wd will average better
i,ve had good service out of these trucks and i plow with them.
you should be able to buy 88-90 for $1000-3500
depending on cond.,mileage etc

Message: If possible, I would recommend getting at least a '92. (1) better looks (2) magnum engine. I dont think the prices are that far apart and I beleive the mpg. is about the same, at least for the V6.

Message: My 96 get's about 17-18 in town and about 22 on the highway. I think the magnum motor will get you better milage.
