Message: Do you recommend the K&N Drop In, or the K&N Cold Air Intake for a 92 3.9 Magnum? What is the Horsepower gain each of these. Which one is worth it, or are they not worth the money? Thank you for you time.

Message: Jon F.
The K&N FIPK for the 92 is just a 14x3 round air
cleaner set up.
Depending on how much you want to spend a drop in
will help, better than stock.
What you can do is make your own with a K&N cone
and some 3" PVC
Or like we have been doing on the Gen 2 trucks is
get a K&N FIPK for a 97 or newer 3.9 Dak and an
air hat from the bone yard and with just a little
modification they will go right on and you will
have a very good cold air system.
Or other brands there are quite a few out there
that will work all you need is the newer style air hat.
Tank
The 92 mopar performance PCM will work on any
92 to 95 3.9 stick or auto trans.
Mopar claims 18 hp and 20 torque on a stock motor
However the performance PCM has more of a program
and will have more gains with more mods. I am running
1 on my stroker and its great, The ASE chip no longer
available had a lean out prob around 3000 rpm just like
the stock PCM just not enough of a program there.
I had to run an Apexi fuel controller but not with the
mopar PCM it has enough of a program to run my stroker
with the custom cam and ported heads
Mopar claims the PCM will run with aftermarket cams
intake exh ect and they were right.
Superchips 98 and up will not work on the older trucks
tazzy
There were places that would flash the OBD 1 comps
for the V6 but most will no longer do it.

Message: vern, I'm interested in that pcm you have for the
dakota. If your really serious about someone taking it off your hands give me a heads up. By the way,
I've been running a k&n filter on my 92 since about 94 and it's worked great! Give it a try, it sure won't hurt anything.
