What does it tune?
Is it also est. 13rwhp or bhp?

Message: I've read that the tuner is optimized for a stock engine. When I wrote to Superchips, they said they don't provide a custom program for all my mods. I still believe that with the performance program there are some gains to be found with all my mods (I hope!!! LOL)

Message: To all of you waiting for your programmer do not be surprised if you hook it up and it says it needs to be updated. It sucks but will have to be done and it is free but you will wait an additional 2 weeks before you get it back. I know this will piss most of you off and you will want to return it.
Still worth it!

Superchips doesnt explain on thier web site that they just dont have all the codes Dodge put out since 98. I'm told Dodge would issue sometimes 15-20 different codes in a year. Due to this, if the code on your stock PCM isnt reconised by your programmer, you have to send it back to Superchips to have them update it to work with your PCM.
Of the 40+ units sold via my group buy, I have only heard of 3 needing to be sent back for an update. I still havent tried mine yet. One guy had a 2002 3.9 v6, so I might have to send mine back too. Also, do your best to make them pay for your shipping. If you have to, threatin to return it for a full refund if they cant atleast pay for the shipping. After all, its not your fault they dont have all the codes.
BTW:
I have heard from 15+ guys that are happy as flies eating chit on a hot summer day ( with thier programmer ).

Message: This is a quote from the guy who emailed me about his programmer return:
here's the situation with the programmers. Chrysler created hundreds of different programs for these trucks. what happens is that the programmers look at your PCM, download the stock program, then matches the program to one of the hundreds of variations loaded onto its memory.
in most cases, the programmer will find the program, then just input the "performance" program onto the PCM, and it is done. what has happened to mine, and others, is that when the programmer downloads the program, it sees that the PCM has a valid program (not like a 95, pre-OBD-II system), but it does not have the specific program that was loaded onto your truck (because there were so many variations). what then needs to happen is that the programmer has to be sent out, to either put the program in (if it has been recently found or worked on), or to create the program (so if anyone else has this program, it will be on file for them to use, and put into future revisions of the programmer).

Message: Exactly. Dodge does not help or have anything to do with how superchips gets the programs for the various PCM's. It is because of the assistance of a local dodge dealer that superchips was even able to create this program for our trucks. I ordered 2 one for a 98 and one for my 00 and they both had to be sent back. I am sure that they have most of the programs by now but the newer your truck is the more likely you will have to send it in. Only if someone else who has got one has sent theres in will they have the program.
The price they are offering this group buy at is a standard group by price.
I was frustrated with this process because I got mine on a Friday of course and had to wait til Monday to get and explaination. The people at superchips gave me allot more insite on the process and it made sense.
I was told by superchips the more mods you made the better performance you will get.

Message: I got an email from jon, and he said that they have swapped out the older tuners(which where 10 months old) for new ones.
I should be ok, since mine is a 98. I should be getting mine this monday. Debating to run the ranger or not this weekend. My modded tps sensor broke, the two plastic pieces inside broke off.
So i had to put on my un-modded tps that reads .65 and boy can i tell a difference.
I am trying to jimmy rig my modded tps with some
super glue, and new plastic pieces. So i am hoping that will fix the prob, because .65 is really slow compared to .75.
Do these tuners run on batteries? or do they get there power source from the truck 12v?
thanks!
