Subject: A Great big THANKS to this board! IP: Logged
Message: Back in October, I bought a beat-up '93 dakota with the intention of having a work truck/fishing truck and a way to pull my boat. Although the truck was running fine at the time, it was very dirty and had quite a few "little things" wrong with it. I would have not cared about most things since it was just to be a secondary ride until I discovered this forum.
Now to date this forum has clued me in on:
fixing the fan blower(was just bad connection on resistor panel--cost 0)
Had timing chain rattle fixed(never would have known that was the problem without reading about it on here--cost, well a little more than 0)
V8 TB--just put that one on and truck runs alot stronger.(cost 62bucks)
Moved IAT helped on pickup a bit (cost0)
Added K&N filter and removed rubber flap by radiator (cost less than 40bucks)
Adjusted TPS to .7 (cost0)
Moved crank postion sensor to advance timing (cost 0)
Changed t-stat to 180 (cost about 10bucks)
changed to ap3923 plugs (cost less than 10bucks)
This truck runs like a scalded dog now and other than the money spent on the timing chain job, I haven't put much $$$ in it.
Anyway thanks to all you guys who offer advice on our problems and suggestions on engine improvements....its nice to know that if I have a problem, someone will probably be able to answer the call.....
