OK this is hard to explain so here goes.....
I have a 2000 dakota 3.9 4x4 I can hear a click from inside the cab sounds kinda like a rod nocking but I dont think so I thaught mabey my distributor cap and roter were mabey wiggin out ..nope I hear it when the engine warms up I can hear the same sound when I turn my ignition on it only clicks one time. The click or nock whatever goes away if i barely push the gas then comes back after a few seconds after lettin off the gas.sometimes the click stays there throughout drivin it speeds up with engine speed .My performance isnt hurtin none so I hav got no clue .CAN ANYONE THROW ME A CLUE DART.

I got something similar on my 03 Dakota 4x2. It sounds like a dash rattle to me. Goes away when driving or when its running at any rpm above idle. Someone mentioned a solenoid or something like that used to purge the fuel tank vapors. Don't know for sure but I'm not letting anyone trash my dash if it is a dash rattle.
