Subject: dont shift into od IP: Logged
Message: i have a 97 club cab 4x4 3.9
on cold mornings it wont shift inot overdrive but if it warms up during the day it will work again if it stays cold it wont work anyone have that problem?? any help???

Message: heh. i was just reading my owners manual today (looking for some specs) and saw the page on the overdrive stuff. it said it won't shift into od until the engine hits a certain temp. nor until you hit 30mph, and some other requirement too, don't remember exactly. its in the manual though.
check it, and you might want to also check your antifreeze concentration.

Message: Mine is an '02 with 31K on the ticker, and it does the same thing. Once it warms up, it's fine.

Message: Yes I have said a million times the trans has a
temp sensor in the trans cooling line near the
radiator that goes bad and it will not drop O/D
if its reading cold.
Replace it this usualy shows up as the weather
gets colder
