Message: Is it a free deal,
What they do is check fluids, belts, brake pads
and verious other things.
Ask them what they all do before you make an
appointment and have you bring it in get charged
a $150 to put a set of plugs in.
Most of it is visual inspection and not worth
what they charge you for it.
It never hurts to ask and may save you some money
that could be put to better use like into your gas
tank so you can go out and have fun driving the
truck
Its just a way they make money in the shop

Message: My tune up consists of new plugs, an oil and filter change, new cap and rotor, re/re the TB and stripping off the various electronic bits then thoroughly cleaning all the gunk off. Put it back. Then I reset the PCM. All that takes me less than an hour.

Message: to get plug wires off.
cut a 6 inch piece of coat hanger wire.
bend a quarter inch at 90 deg on one end, on other end bend 1/2 inch at 90 deg.
slide short end down side of wire turn and pull out plug wire.
surprising how many old timers don't know this trick ??????

Message: hey santa - i'm a newb, not a moron!
(but thanks for the link!)
lol
so this is my truck's first tune-up, its almost 60k miles, recently had the tb and injectors cleaned, had oil changed too. i do have a light ping under load (getting tired of paying for higher octane fuel though).
so i'm gonna get new plugs (ap3923's), should i also get new rotor and cap? if so, any particular ones?
and whats the inside advice on new wires - do i need em? (i see wire kits advertised a lot)
thanks!
jeff

well if you aren't kidding then get a 5/8 socket and a wrench and start turning, then get a spark plug gapper and put the appropriate gap on the plugs and reinsert
