Message: Here's the deal ...
I'm in need of a re-built / re-manufacturered engine.
My question is, have any of you bought one and if so from who ?
Local shop ?
Online shop / store ?
Autozone / Pepboys / Parts America / etc ... ?
Were you pleased with what you received ?
Is there something you didn't like ?
Did you order any special options ?
Did they offer any special options ?

Message: I wouldn't mind doing my own, but working 5 days a week doesn't give me a lot of time to do much of anything.
I've found a lot of sites that look a lot like that one.
They all give the same price and info so I'm not sure if they are all connected or what.
I just wanted to know if anyone's order'd from them and what they thought.

Message: Without knowing your experience or tools you have, it may be a better idea to pick up a rebuilt long block. With the machine work and parts you will generally have the cost of a remanufactured one, less work and usually get a limited warranty on it.
Just my thoughts.

Message: From the site:
What are the Dodge engine specifications?
Dodge Engines remanufactured by our remanufacturing line meet or exceed O.E.M. specifications.
- New Manley valves
- New Elgin valve springs and keepers
- New Badger pistons
- New Hastings molly rings
- New Dynagear timing gears and Durabond cam bearings
- New Dynagear timing gears and chain
- New Elgin lifters, push rods, rockers, balls and nuts
- New Dynagear oil pump
- New FelPro gaskets
- Cylinder heads are pressure checked
- Diamond honed valve guides
- Three angle cut valve seats
- All head surfaces are broached
- Blocks are bored with deck plates, cylinder walls are diamond honed
- Crankshafts are ground and polished for .002 clearance
- Camshafts are ground to O.E.M. specifications, hardened and polished
- Connecting rods are sized to .002 clearance
Maybe I'm missing what you mean Jake, but isn't what that site is offering a re-built longblock ?
I always thought re-built and re-manufacturer'd meant pretty much the same thing.
Please correct me if I'm wrong.

Message: rebuilt means new parts and machining ONLY in absolutelt needed, re-manufacured means all cam and crank bores re-aligned and re-machined as all piston bores re-squared to true with a bore plate to mimik disortion at assembly installed. that way when all the bolts are tightend the pressure keeps the bores round without distortiion, a lot different then re-built.

Message: Sounds like re-manufacured would be better for what I want to do ... get it, switch needed parts over, install, and drive away without worry.
Another ?
Would the re-manufacured engine require a break-in period ?
Or do some companies do that for you ?
Is this a question I'll have to ask the company ?

Message: heres the way is 100% correct. The term "rebuilt" is used loosely but what this builder is offering is a re-manufactured long block. Notice the list of new parts being used. A complete rebuilt(sic) one would be using the old pistons,re-ground valves, etc. The "rebuilt" parts in this would be the crank, block or anything else from the orginal assembly thar are still serviceable.
I haven't personally used this supplier, but have heard some good things about them. Although I don't do many engines anymore, what your seeing in the list is much the same as I would do you one myself. Another key point is the warranty they offer.

Message: Since your engine is gone, why not put a 360 in it, or better yet 440, :) hehe
