Subject: FIPK support shaft snapped in T.B. IP: Logged
Message: I have a K&N FIPK on the Dakota and the support shaft snapped inside the throttle body. My question is can this be removed or should I just do the throttle body replacement with a V8, Fastman or F&B. The truck is a '96 3.9 with no other mods. By the way is there any harm with no air filter until I get the new one installed?
If money was no object what throttle body will work best and what MM. Thanks, Brent

Message: I have the FIPK as well and I hope it doesn't snap as yours did. Good luck.

Message: I would try a drill-out, easy-out etc. first. I would avoid driving with no air-filter. You don't know what you're going to suck into the engine. If you want to go aftermarket, an F&B 48mm works well on a stock V6.
