My bro in law has a 98 v6 mustang. The only thing bigger than his ego is his mouth.
He wants to line em up.
98 dakota v6 manual, plugs, IAT mods done
98 pusstang v6 auto, no mods
whadda ya'll think?

I saw this on an earlier forum on this website. A guy said that he had both. The Dak had it off the line, but the Stang would take the lead in 2nd gear. I don't what would happen considering that you have mods. That is all I know. Hope it helps!

can't find any times for the mustang either....boy oh boy, do I want to shove that stang somewhere...LMAO!!
I love teasing him too - he gets so defensive and 'bout 1/2 pee'd...LOL
We have an 1/8 mile strip close to us, but I'll have to wait till spring to run 'em.....grrrrr....
gotta listen to this wuss-stang talk for the next 3 months...
what do the rest of ya'll think????

I have a 94 3.9 auto with the following mods:
1. gutted cat
2. 180 T/S
3. Removed silencer
4. K&N drop in
5. Flows 40 series
We lined them up at a 30 punch and neither of
us could run away from each other.
His following mods:
1. Flows 40 series
2. Headers
3. 180 T/S
All in all the stang is prolly going to beat you in
the end...lot better high end torque...but thats
just my opinion...your case maybe different.

I think 98 was before ford changed the hp to 200 and was still around 180 for the v6 stang. My 95 V6 5 spd dak has 200 hp after a few mods and has kept up with a stock v6 stang. Of course alot of that depends on how good you are with a 5 spd.

my 99 dakota v6 3.9 liter has been beat by mustangs... well, only in the take off..
mods:
throttle body from a v8
v-chip
vortex exhaust (single pipe) 3" pipes from the headders
i always get taken in the take off, my auto tranny likes to squealll the tires when it shifts from 1'st to 2'nd which eats up time. My gps shows me topped out at 137mph (@ 5500 rpms)
running 100mph at 3k rpms (maxes out at 6k rpms) not sure if that's good or not.
posi-track in the rear too.

thanks all for the reply's - I've been trying to fin d a 48mm stock TB to add on - dealer and aftermarket told me they're 50 mm's - WTF??? I thought the same year v8 tb's were 48's?
the bad thing is the closest strip we've got is 1/8 mile track. Anyone got a s/c to loan out for a day? LMMFAO!!

AP3923 plugs
** BTW, wal-mart has these for $3.88 for 2 plugs!
Zone / AAP want $2.50/piece
relocated the IAT, replaced the P.O.S. coolant temp sensor
gotta get my 180 deg. in yet.
Love my Dakota! Best truck I've owned yet!
If no one's got a s/c I can borrow, how bout a nitro kit...I'll give it back promise!! LOL
