Subject: Rattling type sound and stalling IP: Logged
Message: I have a 2002 V6 2wd Dakota and the past couple of weeks I've noticed that when I'm stopped with the truck in drive (at a light, for example), I hear a rattling type sound coming from the front driver's side. I don't hear it while driving. Only when I'm stopped. I have no idea what this is? Maybe a pulley?
Also....this happened to me twice so far....when I pulled a U-turn going from one side of the street to another, after completing the turn and coming to a stop, the truck stalled.
Any ideas of what could be causing these problems and stuff? Any help/advice is greatly appreciated.
Thanks!!!

Message: The stalling could be a number of different things the rattle may be the heat shield for your Cat(s)is loose and hitting the undercariage.
My 89 used to rattle at a stop something fierce until I got underniethe and tighted the bolts.
Good Luck!

Message: I also have the rattle going on I was pretty sure that it was my cat so I finally got it to the dealer and they said that it is thrashed. They have to order one and have it installed , I have stalled a couple of times and I'm hoping it's because it is plugging up my bottom end has also dropped off I just hope there isn't some other problem..

Message: if it loses power and stalls the hotter it gets, that would sound like a cat converter to me. Sometimes the converter guts (looks like carbon chunks) will break apart and plug the outlet.
bang on it and see if it rattles.
Just my 2 cents worth....
