Subject: 2001 dak w/3.9 5spd Man. warmup Idle IP: Logged
Message: I have an Idle problem. I just got the truck with 27K miles and its winter in Minnesota so here is my problem.
If I start the truck cold and don't warm it up before driving away the idle speed when I up/down shift gears is just fine.
if I start the truck cold and let it warmup for a few minutes then when I shift to the next gears the Idle speed races and there is a roaring noice from the engine. This problem continues with each up and down shift until the engine reaches normal operating temperature.
What is causing this?

Message: The roaring noise is probably the cooling fan
The high idle is a little strange you may have a
sensor that is a little off, IAT or engine temp
reading cold will cause the IAC to open to prevent
the truck from stalling while shifting.
My truck does that if I roll backwards and pop it
in nutral while I am rolling cold it will rev to
12 1500 when the truck stops rolling it idles down
Than I pop it in Drive and go they are weird
computer controlled vehicles do strange things
