Subject: runs rough at 45mph and up IP: Logged
Message: I have a 99 Dakota v6 4x4 sport (5sp). Just replaced the cat-back however when driving in 4th @ 2000 rpms at 45mph and up into 5th, it runs rough. It almost seems like there isn't enough back pressure (don't know, just seems the easiest way to explain it). You can feel the truck shake and it's not as responsive as it should be. Any ideas?
I have replaced:
Spark Plugs
Wires
dist cap
Rotor
Recharged the K&N air filter
PCV valve
Cat converter
Muffler
Also, I have 163,000 on it.
Thanks for any suggestions

Message: 1 big thing when was the upstream o2 sensor
replaced the 1 between the cat and motor.
It may also just be learning the new exh you can
do a hard reset by diconnecting the batt and hold
the key to start for 30 secs now turn it off and
reconect the batt.
Start and let idle for a few min's shut off do
the same thing again without touching the gas
than restart and drive.
It takes 50 miles for a short tearm learn and
about 2 to 300 for a full learn.
see if that helps it will relearn from set tables
and tune in the new exh.

Message: The upstream o2 was replaced about 3 months ago. The sensor after the cat was replaced about 4 weeks ago (same time the new cat was put in). I have tried the hard reset, only by disconnecting the neg batt term, and turning the key to on for 30 secs, however I did not do exactly what you mentioned, so I will give that a shot. Its been over 300 miles already. I drive 80mi. a day.
Could it be the fuel filter?
This behavior has been going on for a while. I noticed it just after I replaced the fan clutch with a Black Magic elec fan and new t-stat. That was done just this past spring. (I don't think that would matter though).
I'll try what you have recommended
Thank you!!
